The Olympic Lifting training program consists of a warm up, instruction on how to perfect the power or Olympic lift being featured, a brief exercise to find your maximum weight for the lift, and then a challenging workout incorporating the lift you just learned along with other plyometric, gymnastic, strength and endurance exercises.

Olympic Lifting For Speed & Agility

While linear speed training is important, the ability to change direction and transfer power efficiently and precisely is arguably more important than flat out linear speed.

At Ultimate Fit Zone in Monmouth County, NJ, speed development and enhancement is a careful balance and combination of strength training, sport training, skill training, and speed and agility training. Our Olympic Lift program is excellent for athletes who want to improve their performance in all of the above areas.

Olympic Lifting for speed and agility training is the future of athletic training. Leg strength and core strength are both essential for speed. Max strength and the ability to speed-agility-monmouth-countyaccelerate rapidly are very closely related. Power and Olympic lifting develops both of these aspects by conditioning specific strengths while improving acceleration.

Speed and Agility Training For Functional Movements

At Ultimate Fit Zone in Monmouth County, our unique speed & agility training using Power and Olympic lifts focuses a lot of time on squats (Front & Back), lunges, and variations of Olympic movements (Clean, High Pulls,  Split Jerk, Push Jerk, Snatch & combination lifts).  These movements are essential for conditioning the Triple Extension (extending the ankle, knee, and hip).  The triple extension occurs in many movements across a variety of sports including during jumping, taking down an opponent, swinging, throwing, track & swimming starts, etc.  We focus extensively on this movement in many of the Olympic lifts we practice.

speed-agility-njOlympic and Power lifts learned at our program for speed and agility can help train muscles based on their function. Single joint movements that isolate a specific muscle (bicep curls) are very non-functional. Athletics is about the integration of muscle groups into movement patterns. Our goal is to help athletes master the form of these unique lifting exercises and then put them through challenging workouts to ensure they can not only master the form, but perform each movement precisely with speed and control.

Olympic and Powerlift Workshop

We held our first Olympic and Powerlift workshop this past Saturday 2/1 to teach participants the principles and proper form and technique for the Deadlift and the Clean & Jerk. This is one of many workshops we will be holding to help you master new moves and learn how to incorporate them into your daily training routing.

Eddie Albert, owner of Ultimate Fit Zone and Ultimate Fitness Training Center ( a 24 hour gym just a few doors down in the same shopping plaza) and Chris Marzarella co-hosted the workshops that attracted men,  women and even teens.

Eddie is a fitness expert with 25 years experience in personal training.  He is an avid CrossFit athlete and a former body builder.  Chris is a long time body builder, competing for the National Physique Committee, and is preparing for his first Strongman competition.
